This San Clemente summer engagement turned into a trash the dress session! When Danielle reached out to me on the knot she let me know that she wanted photos in the ocean in her wedding dress. You know how much I love jumping in the water with everyone (check out this proposal, this engagement session, this styled session, and this elopement as proof). When we decided that as epic as jumping in the ocean on her wedding day would be…wearing a soaked dress for the rest of the night might be a bit uncomfortable. We also couldn’t seem to talk Patrick into the idea as much as we tried! So an alternative solution was proposed! We turned their sweet summer engagement on San Clemente Pier into a partial trash the dress photos.

Since the wedding venue is at the Historic Cottage, it was an easy choice to have their engagement photos at the San Clemente Pier. At the start of the session, they both told me how awful they were at getting their photos taken. As you can tell, we had very little trouble with that because this session is MAGIC! Patrick and Danielle were so much fun!

When the time came to jump in the ocean, Danielle changed into her borrowed wedding dress. She had convinced Patrick to jump in the water with her/us and he was an excellent sport. We waited for the sunset to come out behind this one cloud and as soon as it did…man oh man was it worth it!

The tide rose and we frolicked in the waves until the sun dipped below the horizon. There was a lot of laughter, a lot of water and sand all over the place, and even a little bit of piggy back rides. It was everything Danielle had envisioned for her San Clemente summer engagement photos!
