For our intimate Valley Center wedding, we’re at an incredible venue called The Grand Haven that overlooks the entire valley below.
Peter and Kyra met one night when her best friend dragged her out to Huntington Beach to help her get over a bad relationship. Peter saw a beautiful girl across a crowd at the bar and of course had to offer her a drink. After several long islands, they spent the night dancing and having fun with their friends (apparently there was blood of questionable origins on the dance floor that was later mentioned in the maid of honor speech). Kyra knew that night that Peter was the one for her. She felt an immediate comfort with him that made her realize that he was her person.
When Peter first reached out to me for their Valley Center wedding, he mentioned that their relationships with the people invited were the most important aspect of their day. They wanted the focus to be on the ones they chose to be surrounded by as they became husband and wife.
Sunflowers were included everywhere. It’s their flower because Peter calls Kyra his sunshine and the entire wedding reflected that feeling of brightness and warmth. Kyra’s closest friend officiated the ceremony and as they walked back in they were greeted with cheers and clapping from all of their family and friends. Kyra brought a journal that Peter has kept ever since he decided to propose. Needless to say, as someone who thought of something so thoughtful and romantic, Peter’s vows did not disappoint! They had breakfast for dinner…including a cinnamon roll cake with a custom wedding cake topper!
Getting to know the two of them in such a short time and hearing how their friends and family spoke of them. You get a sense that these two love to not only have fun, but to also grow and challenge each other. They are both as similar as they are opposite.
Since their romance started on the dance floor, they had “Till death do us party” details sprinkled throughout the reception, including that hot pink neon sign that cast its glow over the rest of the night. The mimosa bar was fully stocked and later there were shots with donut holes for all of their guests! One of my favorite moments was when they walked in and everyone clapped and cheered for them as the golden glow of the sun set behind them! That truly brought together so many aspects of who they are together, Peter calling Kyra his sunshine and the importance of their relationships to the ones they love the most was fully realized in this one moment!
