Some summer fun with this Los Angeles Arboretum summer engagement! J & J came up with this spot from their own adventures and it did not disappoint! A photography permit here did come with some specifications on times and outfit changes but nothing we couldn’t work with to take advantage of the beautiful location.
As always we always work with the light we’re given and we were able to snag a mid morning time slot to beat the summer heat. There were plenty of shady areas (and curious wildlife) that it made everything fun and easy. Once upon a time a decade ago I would have shied away, but with years of experience I’ve been embracing if not running towards aspects of harsh light for a little bit of drama. A word to the wise when searching…a good professional photographer should know how to use light (and artificial light) to their advantage.

J & J met at the rock climbing gym they both go to and found me through The Homestead (one of my favorite venues to photography!) There isn’t a serious second with these two and it made for the best time. In fact the favorite photo from their engagement (not included) is one where she’s trying to pick his nose. At their wedding we snuck away from their reception to run amuck in the streets of Oak Glen and pop champagne as the sun set.
