Miller’s Landing – A Family Affair

We’re back at my favorite Miller’s Landing with another Lake Arrowhead Barn Wedding. Miller’s Landing is in the top three favorite venues for me. One, because I grew up on the mountain and it’s so nostalgic for me. Two, because they’re just the most wonderful family-run business who are just as obsessed with their couples as I am. It isn’t about the business of weddings or putting on a big show of what weddings “should be” but it’s about pouring into their couples and giving them the best day of their lives.

Lifelong Friendships, Family, and a Lifelong Love

Family was the entire focus of B & K’s Lake Arrowhead barn wedding. Throughout the day, my second photographer and I were struck by the lifelong friendships and deep family relationships that B & K are surrounded by. B & K have been together since they were 15 years old. They were each other’s first loves and have spent over half their lives together. On their welcome table were photos of them at high school dances mixed in with photos from their magical engagement session (check that out here). K had pieces of her mother’s and B’s mother’s wedding veils included in her bouquet. They had wedding photos of their parents and grandparents (who were all still tougher) on display. Even one of K’s bridesmaids their parents were friends and had been pregnant with them together.

Shortly after their wedding, K’s grandfather passed and she posted a photo I had taken of her dancing with him. I shared with her how we were so struck at her wedding by these family relationships that were so deep and lasting. It was so rare and special and that is the legacy her grandfather left.

All The Gorgeous Colors

B & K were going for a moody fall feel for their Lake Arrowhead barn wedding, with deep jewel tones and beautiful textures. From the engagement session, I already knew K and I had similar style…so when she showed me her embroidered veil I just about screamed in pure delight. Also this ring that B designed with Celtic knots?!?! He proposed in Ireland and both of them are part Irish so yet another reason I LOVE them.
