This Griffith Observatory sunrise engagement was a perfect way to avoid the heat of summer and touristy crowds hiking. Since this is such an iconic spot in Los Angeles, sunrise is truly the only time take advantage of the art deco architecture and stunning view of the city below. Even though it was summer in Southern California, the June gloom marine layer gave us the most wonderful soft light as the sun came up.

L & E’s proposal was an inspired moment between the two of them. L had no ring at the time and he asked E to marry him. They have stayed true to that promise, but E very much wanted to have a scenic and romantic photography session to commemorate the proposal. Griffith Observatory and Los Angeles were a special part of their early dating days. The architecture of the observatory with the overcast view of the city and the nature on the surrounding trails meant that we could pull in all the aspects of her dream engagement photos together in one location.

E has a sense of play and L loves how passionate she is with her emotions. L is more quiet and serious but E’s joy brings out a lighter side of him that was really beautiful to see glimpses of. Their wedding was at his family’s home that he helped build and combined a mix of both Vietnamese and Mexican cultures.
