This summer elopement in Joshua Tree Park took a few pivots in our journey. Originally S & C booked me for their destination elopement. After writing out their two hundred person guest list, these two bought a house and became sober and realized that the big wedding wasn’t for them. Instead they wanted to fly from Virginia to California and get married in Joshua Tree State Park with just the two of them. As the day got closer, they opted to have a tiny elopement in Virginia with their families and dedicate their entire Joshua Tree adventure to their elopement photos!

Now I know there’s tons to see inside Joshua Tree and I love it so much…but when it comes to photography I let the light dictate our adventure. There is absolutely no cell phone coverage inside the park and it’s both difficult and yet incredibly easy to get lost. We started in the shade of all the incredible rocks which are my favorite parts of the area. With a few outfit changes and moving locations, we treated the first hour or so almost as their adventure engagement session.

Then as the light started to get juicy and golden, they changed into their elopement attire and we aimed for the open space of endless joshua trees. They danced, they ran, they laughed, and they finished the night with a headstand in a wedding dress.
