Russell and Ashley
I love backyard weddings and this Riverside backyard wedding is no exception.
When Russell hired Ashley, he’d never have guessed that one day she’d be his wife! Life brought them both down paths they didn’t expect and their friendship became one of support to help each other through trying times…then one day that all changed. Eventually it led to marriage and building a new home. It only seemed fitting to combine the two and have the wedding in their new backyard.
I met up with the two of them earlier this year and immediately noticed they way they made each other laugh. It was a relationship in which they were obviously comfortable and happy being themselves around each other. There was an effortlessness and ease to them together that made me adore them. Plus I just love couples that are always cracking each other up and having a good time just being together.
If you know me at all, you know non traditional is my jam. I’ll support and celebrate traditional weddings all day long if you’re traditional person. I just love me the ones that do their day their way. Ashley and Russell were the same, choosing to get ready together and walk up the aisle together. Their boss performed the ceremony and a friend held up flash cards of a Reggae song Russel dedicated to Ashley. Every moment was filled with laughter and jokes and adoring looks. They were surrounded by friends and family who came to support their unexpected journey to find each other.
Since they built a house in a new area, we had free run of really beautiful open spaces and roads that hadn’t opened yet. A little grassy area provided some covering against the midday summer light and Russel was more than willing to kiss his new bride for me. The hills of riverside where houses would be shortly provided a stunning area to take those epic photos.
